This spring designers looked to edgy muses such as Lady Gaga to create sexy avant-garde getups. The look combines a tough sexiness with odd silhouettes, lingerie, and athleticwear. The look is also much more wearable for the everyday woman.

Two sustainable lines offering this trend are Nicole Bridger and Elroy Apparel. A Famous Feline Turns 35

Today the most famous feline in the world, Hello Kitty, turned 35. The cute kitty’s birthday was celebrated at the Three Apples event in Culver City at the Royal/T cafe and art space.

Ms. Kitty’s birthday bash was complete with a pancake and waffle breakfast, merchandise exhibit, pop-up shop, free paper cat ear crowns, and a free goody bag for the first 100 fans in line. There were even young women in Japanese street fashion who took pictures with fans and a photo op with Hello Kitty herself.

The Three Apples event will run until November 14th. Royal/T’s hours of operation are 10am-10pm and fans are expected to camp out daily. Note that space in the gallery is limited so only a few people will be let in at once. That said, it may take 3-4 hours to get inside to see the exhibit as a result of die-hard fans who will be lining up at dawn.

The first few people in line today had arrived around 5am and the line was over a block long a few minutes before the event had even begun. An hour into the event the line had doubled to two blocks.
